Why Non-Jewish Hollywood Stars Are Showing Interest In Kabbalah


Following Madonna’s interest in Kabbalah, several other Hollywood stars have followed her lead. The non-Jewish Hollywood stars’ interest in Jewish mysticism has been informed by different reasons. Madonna invested heavily in the ancient Jewish tradition by taking classes and opening Kabbalah centers. Some of the Hollywood stars that have shown interest in Jewish Kabbalah are Britney Spears,Paris Hilton, the late Elizabeth Taylor, Sammy Davis, Marilyn Monroe, and Sandra Bernhard.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Sandra Bernhard noted that Kabbalah helped her to get rid of at least 80 percent of disorders in her life. Paris Hilton shared the same sentiment. Speaking to More Magazine, a Great Britain publication, she said that when she and Nick Carter split, she coped by visiting Los Angeles’s Kabbalah Centre. To this end, she was able to heal from the same. Many celebrity students of Kabbalah share these sentiments.

Kabbalah Center’s website explains that Kabbalah is ancient wisdom that offers practical tools for establishing joy and fulfillment. The teachings of Kabbalah seek to change people’s perception about the world. Chabad emphasizes that Kabbalah is the Soul of the Torah that teaches the essence of god, his interaction with the world, and the importance of creation. Additionally, not all Hollywood stars were attracted to Kabbalah due to their personal problems. Stars like Sammy Davies told Time Magazine that he wanted to be part of history that stretches 5,000 years back.
